The choir started in 2007 with a small group of people singing around the piano in someone's front room.
Outgrowing this, we moved to the Community Room at Emmanuel Church.
It didn't take long before we needed to move out into the main body of the church!
Our Christmas Concerts and Spring Singfests have regularly filled the place, and we have raised a good sum of money for charity too - especially C4WS Homeless Project, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Christian Aid.
Questions
What sort of choir are we?
We aim to sing good music well. And enjoy doing it in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Who can join?
Anyone who enjoys singing! All are welcome. The Fortune Green Choir is a non-auditioned community choir. Our members range from experienced choristers to people singing in a choir for the first time.
What do we sing?
Anything, so long as it's interesting or challenging! Take a look at the Repertoire page.
What do we sound like?
There is a rehearsal recording here.
Do we perform?
Yes. We usually:
- sing at the Fortune Green Jester Festival
- have a Christmas Concert, with supporting groups and performers
- sing carols at the West Hampstead Christmas Fair
All the money raised by these events goes to charity.
Where and when do we meet?
Emmanuel Church, Lyncroft Gardens, West Hampstead, London NW6 1JU. See here.
On Tuesday evenings during three 'terms'.
Come along at 6.50 for a 7pm start and sing through to 8.30. See the Home page for details.
How much does it cost?
Your first evening is free of charge so you can try it out.
The fees are announced at the beginning of term and you can pay for a whole term or weekly. The only other cost is for sheet music for pieces still in copyright.
Who runs the Choir?
We have a Steering Group rather than a formal committee - we're pretty democratic!
The Steering Group currently consists of: Fabiana Barticioti (music copies), Christine Marchant (e-mails) and Anthony Salter (treasurer).
